汉语语法第三十五讲：其他 (Qítā) – Other Sentences

80. 除了……还……/除了……都…… (Chúle… Hái… / Chúle… Dōu…):

These structures express exceptions or inclusions.

除了…还… (Chúle… Hái…): Indicates that besides something mentioned, there is something else.

除了…都… (Chúle… Dōu…): Indicates that everything except for something mentioned is included.

Example:

除了苹果，他还吃了香蕉 (chúle píngguǒ, tā hái chī le xiāngjiāo) – Besides apples, he also ate bananas.

除了我，大家都来了 (chúle wǒ, dàjiā dōu lái le) – Everyone came except me.

“除了……还……”:

 

除了学习,他还喜欢打篮球。

Chúle xuéxí, tā hái xǐhuan dǎ lánqiú.

Besides studying, he also likes playing basketball.

除了蔬菜,她还爱吃水果。

Chúle shūcài, tā hái ài chī shuǐguǒ.

Besides vegetables, she also loves to eat fruits.

除了工作,他还热爱旅行。

Chúle gōngzuò, tā hái rè’ài lǚxíng.

Besides work, he also loves traveling.

除了音乐,他还对绘画很感兴趣。

Chúle yīnyuè, tā hái duì huìhuà hěn gǎnxìngqù.

Besides music, he is also very interested in painting.

除了看书,她还爱听广播。

Chúle kànshū, tā hái ài tīng guǎngbō.

Besides reading books, she also loves listening to the radio.

“除了……都……”:

 

除了小明,其他人都来参加聚会了。

Chúle Xiǎomíng, qítā rén dōu lái cānjiā jùhuì le.

Except for Xiaoming, everyone else came to the party.

除了数学,他其他科目都考得很好。

Chúle shùxué, tā qítā kēmù dōu kǎo de hěn hǎo.

Except for math, he did very well in all his other subjects.

除了周末,他每天都去健身房锻炼。

Chúle zhōumò, tā měitiān dōu qù jiànshēnfáng duànliàn.

Except for weekends, he goes to the gym to exercise every day.

除了日语,他其他外语都学得很好。

Chúle rìyǔ, tā qítā wàiyǔ dōu xué de hěn hǎo.

Except for Japanese, he learned all the other foreign languages very well.

除了下雨,其他天气情况都不错。

Chúle xiàyǔ, qítā tiānqì qíngkuàng dōu bùcuò.

Except for the rain, the other weather conditions are fine.

81. 越来越……/越……越…… (Yuè lái yuè … / Yuè … Yuè…):

These structures express a gradual increase or decrease.

越来越…… (Yuè lái yuè …): Indicates a continuous increase or decrease.

越……越…… (Yuè … Yuè…): Indicates a proportional change, where one thing increases or decreases as another does.

Example:

天气越来越冷 (tiānqì yuè lái yuè lěng) – The weather is getting colder and colder.

我越学习越喜欢中文 (wǒ yuè xuéxí yuè xǐhuan zhōngwén) – The more I learn Chinese, the more I like it.

“越来越……”:

 

这孩子越来越调皮了。

Zhè háizi yuè lái yuè tiáopí le.

This child is getting more and more mischievous.

他的工作能力越来越强了。

Tā de gōngzuò nénglì yuè lái yuè qiáng le.

His work ability is getting stronger and stronger.

这道题目越来越难了。

Zhè dào tímù yuè lái yuè nán le.

This question is getting more and more difficult.

房价越来越高了,我们买不起了。

Fángjiā yuè lái yuè gāo le, wǒmen mǎi bù qǐ le.

Housing prices are getting higher and higher, we can’t afford it anymore.

她每天运动,身材越来越好了。

Tā měitiān yùndòng, shēncái yuè lái yuè hǎo le.

She exercises every day, and her figure is getting better and better.

“越……越……”:

 

你学得越努力,成绩就会越好。

Nǐ xué de yuè nǔlì, chéngjì jiù huì yuè hǎo.

The harder you study, the better your grades will be.

天气越来越热,人们越来越不喜欢外出。

Tiānqì yuè lái yuè rè, rénmen yuè lái yuè bù xǐhuan wàichū.

The weather is getting hotter and hotter, and people like going out less and less.

这个项目投入越多,收益就会越大。

Zhè gè xiàngmù tóurù yuè duō, shōuyì jiù huì yuè dà.

The more investment in this project, the greater the return.

你越关心她,她就会越依赖你。

Nǐ yuè guānxīn tā, tā jiù huì yuè yīlài nǐ.

The more you care about her, the more she will depend on you.

孩子哭得越来越大声,妈妈就越来越无助。

Háizi kū de yuè lái yuè dàshēng, māma jiù yuè lái yuè wúzhù.

The louder the child cries, the more helpless the mother becomes.
